Who We Are
World class scientists and scientists and engineers working collaboratively to solve the Army’s pressing environmental changes - Reducing risk and future environmental liability.
Chemistry
MME’s diverse chemistry team provides a spectrum of analytical, theoretical, design, and development support. With state-of-the-art facilities and top-of-the-line instrumentation, we provide unique technical services and method development for environmental research, assessment, monitoring, and water quality.
Biology and Toxicology
MME’s team spans a breadth of biological expertise that addresses multiple levels of biological organization. We range from microbiologists to genomicists; from toxicologists to fish scientists. A broad range of terrestrial and aquatic bioassays are used to determine exposure and effects as well as bioaccumulation potential in a number of invertebrate and vertebrate models. Cell screening and surrogate bioassays are used to assess potential material toxicity to humans.
Fate and Transport
Our soil and environmental scientists are experts in the area of material fate and transport. We couple advanced analytical techniques with standardized methods to determine the chemical form, mobility, persistence/degradation, and bioavailability of materials in soil and water systems. MME’s experts determine how materials interact with natural matrices in order to predict their behavior in the environment.
Engineering and Design
Our talented engineers address environmental issues with award-winning solutions. We utilize civil, chemical, environmental, biological, and mechanical engineering expertise to tackle issues ranging from contaminant migration and remediation to waste disposal. System and product design expertise enables MME to pull smaller engineering and science components together to create comprehensive solutions.
Physics Based Sensors
MME scientists specialize in a variety of physics-based sensing methods and technologies including elecotromagnetic induction, radar, and seismic-acoustics. Combining these varied areas of expertise allows the team to provide top-notch UXO and munitions detection solutions, enabling soldier training and preparedness.
Decision Analysis
Our analytical tools support risk-informed decisions related to the management of military materials throughout the entire product life cycle. We are experts in creating quantitative models and tools to support complex decisions involving uncertainty, multiple criteria, and many stakeholders. Our scientists are leading the way in applying novel analytical processes to arrive at production decisions based on multiple risks, benefits, and costs.
